Limited Proposal Submissions
Certain grant programs limit the number of proposals or letters of intent they will accept from an institution. When more researchers want to apply than are allowed, the University must decide which proposals will go forward to the agency.
To facilitate a fair decision process, researchers wanting to apply to a limited-submissions program are asked to submit a Notification of Intent to Apply to a Grant Program form to ORDA at least 45 calendar days before the agency deadline for letters of intent (or for full proposals if letters of intent are not requested). Exceptions for specific programs, if any, will be announced on our web site or in Research Matters.
To help researchers plan, see the table below.
If the number of notifications received by the 45-day deadline meets or exceeds the program's limit, submissions will be closed. If the number exceeds the limit, a review process will be set up and each potential applicant will be alerted that a 3- to 5-page project description, 1-page budget, and curriculum vitaes will be due to ORDA 1 week after the notification of intent deadline. The Vice Chancellor for Research will establish a committee to oversee proposal selection. The goal is to give selected researchers as much time as possible to work on their final proposals.
If the number of notifications received by the 45-day deadline does NOT exceed the limit, ORDA will take any subsequent Intent to Apply forms on a first-come, first-accepted basis. When the program limit is reached, no further notifications will be accepted and submissions will be closed.
